Devilishly Wicked FUN! (by hepnershadow) |
Once in a while, this kind of movie comes along and all you have to do is sit back and watch it and enjoy it for what it is! Great seeing English speaking Asian actors! As much as I like seeing martial arts movies from Asia, it's refreshing to not have to read subtitles.I find it amusing that some of the reviewers are trying to put some intellectual critique on it instead of just enjoying the blood, guts, and action. It's not gonna win an Academy or a Golden Globe, but it will win fans of this kind of genre. Sure, some parts could have been better, but for RZA's first film that he <more> |
Colourful and Bold (by olivierb-669-977888) |
This movie is fantastic. No time to get bored. RZA has given us an unbelievably exciting action packed movie. The combination of bold and colorful pictures with a great soundtrack and a good cast make this movie truly unforgettable. I am hoping we will see more of the Man with the Iron fists soon. ... I also think that many people got put off by this movie because of the graphic violence that it contains. Those people should not forget that this is in the purpose of entertainment and that no one got hurt seriously making the movie.I also would like to mention that this movie was produced <more> |
Are you not entertained? (by ryanjprice93) |
I would just like to start off by saying that people slandering this film are comparing it to higher budget films with better, more experienced directors.I mean come on, it's RZA directing a film, his first one. I was thoroughly entertained throughout the film. It had cool slick action sequences, interesting characters and inventive weapons. The story was well told even though it wasn't the strongest. The acting was generally mediocre which was expected looking at the cast, giving the exception of Russell Crowe and Lucy Liu who really stood out giving great performances. By far my <more> |
Instant Classic!!! (by blackgrip2002) |
The Man With The Iron Fists was "instant classic". It was the perfect blend of old school meets new school, meets Cgi special effects. For me it was full of surprises because I never knew who the Man with the Iron Fists would be in the movie until a "certain point" in the movie. The fight scenes were Superb! Lucy Lu was one of the most memorable characters along with the Yin Yang of the Geminis, they were Awesome. Many are bashing on the Rza and his acting but I tell you this. His character was supposed to represent the humble yet powerful Hero in the film. That he did and <more> |
Best i've seen since Kill Bill (by seularts) |
I have to say, I hate movies where the plot takes place inside a foreign country and they just speak English instead of the native one, but this one has the wright amount of balance to take you over this flaw. I also felt a pinch of Quentin Tarantino flavor there. As a viewer you either like this movie or not at all.The effects were nice and juicy typical for the Chinese genre , maybe a bit over the top, but still nice. Considering that RZA was involved in Afro Samurai, you can see where where the movie is trying to point at.I give it a 9 because it's a bit too much for real life action, <more> |
The Man With the Iorn (by thequn) |
I Normally consider my self a movie buff or at least I used to, until this last year I used to go to the Cinema 2 times a week.Sadly this year while having some really Amazing box office smashes such as "The Avengers" and "The Dark Knight Rises" and a few other note worthy flick's like "The Hunger Games" or "Prometheus" I have for the most not really felt the need to go out and watch much of anything. While I can named at lest 100+ movies I saw in 2011/2010 off the top of my head. So far this year I have gone out to see. John Carter, Battleship, <more> |
Solid Shaw Brothers Styled Kung-Fu Film (by BAFilm96) |
I graduated from college with a B.A. - Visual Arts, Film, at a school where there was actually enough equipment around for all students to shoot their film projects. I have made films and I have studied and watched many different films across many different genres. The Rza delivered a Martial Arts film that is true to form. Most Martial Arts films that are created in the Shaw Brothers tradition will always ask viewers to suspend their disbelief, and ask viewers to become steeped in the mythos of a story that is most times only hinted at, in much the same way that readers of comics are asked <more> |
Why the hate ? Maybe from people with no knowledge of Asian movies ? (by haibane-tenshi) |
The 5.5 rate on IMDb is baffling, so i have to take some time and make a review.I guess most people who criticize the film have, like, no knowledge of the Wu-Tang Clan, RZA and old school Asian movies and, therefore, were expecting a movie totally different and were shocked. This movie is a tribute to all the old school kung fu flicks that the Wu-Tang watched as they built their albums, especially the 36 chambers. This movie brings all the possible clichés you could find in those films, all seen under the street culture angle.I give this movie, like, an 8 for being original and true to its <more> |
For the hardcore Kung Fu film enthusiast. (by chrisyarb81) |
As a die-hard fan of this genre, I have to say I enjoyed this movie a great, great deal. The backdrops were extremely vivid, the characters were presented in ways that are memorable. Like, the main characters were explained enough to get into them. For his first directing attempt, RZA did an outstanding job. I think he did what he set out to do.There aren't many martial arts films like this that get cinematic airtime anymore and it was good to go to a theater and see this type of movie. The fight scenes are choreographed to perfection and the cast was just incredible. Russell Crowe just <more> |
