one of the greatest killer bees movies i have ever seen!!!! (by mystflexagon) |
You don't think this is a good movie? How about this...Micheal Caine vs. a huge swarm of deadly African KILLER BEES! Yeah, you get the picture. It's that good! If you don't like the original version Alfie like me, this is exactly what you want. Imagine if Alfie had to deal with his relationship troubles while BATTLING KILLER BEES! A mighty 10 out of 10 from this Killer Bee movie buff...A little note of trivia, Mr. Caine was eventually playing Austin Power's father. When you think about it, it's kind of creepy that years later he would be playing the father to the man who <more> |
Great Disaster Movie (by alicespiral) |
A film with the extras as the main stars? Yes the bees were real this was not just a computerised thing. The film had everything-plane crashes,a train tumbling down a mountain and a nuclear power plant blowing up. Finally the sea on fire leaving this open for Swarm 2.Therewas no proof that this final attempt to eliminate the bees had worked as the flame throwers had been no use. You're left guessing as to whether the sonic signal did the job 100%.Its a long film and good value as its all action. What more could anyone have asked it to do? |
The very great movie about bees! (by disasterfilm84) |
Its the swarm, one of the best disaster movies I've seen. the film was brought to the screen by Irwin "the master of disaster" Allen. Irwin had been in development of the project for years and took some time to film. When I saw the film I loved every minute of it. Its one of my ten best. The film moves along very fast and keeps the pace going. Allen never lets you stop to rest the action keeps coming in different forms. The music in the film is another great thing about this movie, composer Jerry Goldsmith composed one of most memorable scores for the film. The special <more> |
Thank You Very Much Irwin Allen (by slbp_99) |
This is one of his best movies including: The Poseidon Adventure, Beyond The Poseidon Adventure, The Towering Inferno, Flood, Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea. Now Flood is OK. This is not a masterpiece but close to it. The "love" story could be shorten. The special effects were great. Warning:Could be a spoiler! One of the best parts is the train and power plant scenes. So all around this is a great movie. I give it a 9. |
Does YOUR insurance include protection against mutant bees?! (by mimosacymru) |
Watched this title last night at the 'Bad Film Club' in Chapter in Cardiff, Wales. Haven't had such an entertaining time in the cinema for ages! Michael Caine looks like he's going to feed his agent to the bees for getting him involved in this undeniably awful film. He utters/spits out his lines with an unreserved contempt for them. I particularly enjoyed his shouting matches with the General over the importance of preserving the food chain.Everybody really is awful in this film except Henry Fonda who, being the consummate professional, puts in a very good performance as <more> |
If I wasn't so serious it could be. A Joke (by lippylip26) |
There has been much written about the dangers of bees, especially the African Killer bee which found its way to South America and now is emagrating to the USA The danger exists and it is no laughing matter Having been on the wrong side of a bee swarm and been stung I have the deepest respect for bees I nearly lost my wife to a bee that stung her on her tongue While there are many absurdity's in the movie like bees that stung but don't die the message is very clear Don't mess with bees I saw this movie when I was about 16 I'm now 65 and it still hold the same gripping feel <more> |
Not as bad as people say it is (by Wailmer1990) |
Saying that The Swarm is a disaster of a disaster movie would be a slap in the face to the 'Master of Disaster', Irwin Allen. True, is does seem a bit hokey in its approach of displaying the killer bees. However, it does play on the fear of bees this film is DEFINITELY NOT for those who have the deathly fear of bees rather well. It doesn't always work, but it's still pretty good. A true highlight is Jerry Goldsmith's score. You don't have to see the movie to hear his score. The score is truly one of his best, in my opinion. The cast reads like a Who's Who in <more> |
Bees is bees. (by ace-150) |
So many questions, so few answers. The on-screen talent for this film, as of 2011, has ten Oscars. Why did they do this film? Michael Caine might have been early in his career, but Olivia de Havilland? Irwin Allen's resume consists mostly of Lost in Space, Land of the Giants, Time Tunnel and Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea. How do you go from Gone With The Wind to The Swarm?.....Why would passenger cars on a train explode when they rolled down a cliff? The cars are being dragged by the locomotive up front. Are all the passengers carrying thermoses full of nitroglycerine and napalm?.....Why <more> |
It's a nightmare that will give you quite a buzz! (by robfollower) |
Producer/director Irwin Allen The Poseidon Adventure, The Towering Inferno now unleashes an end-of-the-world thriller based on scientific fact. In Africa and South America, killer bees are a reality. Now The Swarm is on the move...into North America! There are enough stars for five movies - Michael Caine, Katharine Ross, Richard Widmark, Olivia de Havilland, Henry Fonda, Fred MacMurray, Richard Chamberlain, Jose Ferrer, Patty Duke Astin, Lee Grant and Bradford Dillman. But the scene-stealers are the supporting cast: an estimated 22 million bees, deftly deployed to depict deadly attacks on <more> |
